Brigadeiro - Brazilian Chocolate Truffles

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration. I had a blast with my family and friends. I also got the chance to  share my Brazilian-American Thanksgiving in this month's Foodbuzz 24x24 event! Now that Thanksgiving is well past us, it's time to concentrate on Christmans - or whatever other holiday you and your family celebrate.

I love cooking and baking cookies and sweet treats during the holidays. I also love sharing these treats with family and friends, as little holiday gifts. My favorite treats to make are brigadeiros - little fudgy, chocolate truffles, dusted with chocolate sprinkles. They are quick, easy, simple, and inexpensive to make!

If you have ever been to Brazil - or ever been to a Brazilian party - this name should totally ring a bell. I don't think I've ever been to a Brazilian celebration that didn't have these quintessential docinhos.

Brigadeiro

1 14oz can sweetened condensed milk
3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tbsp butter and a little extra to brush on plate and hands
chocolate sprinkles

In a sauce pan, combine condensed milk, cocoa powder and butter. Over medium heat, stir mixture until the bottom of pan is visible and mixture comes of the bottom of the pan easily.

Brush a plate with the extra butter. Pour mixture onto plate and let it cool. When mixture has cooled, put a little butter on your hands, take about a teaspoon at a time of mixture, roll into a little ball, and roll into sprinkles.
